UWG would like to welcome Sarah Lawson, a new member of our subcommittee. Sarah has been involved with UWG for some time and has attended and run workshops and contributed articles to the newsletter. Some of you will remember Sarah from the Open Garden Tour she hosted at her Castaways Beach home in November 2023.

We asked Sarah to tell us a little about herself:

‘I moved to the Sunshine Coast in 2018 for the beaches but fell in love with the local flora and bushland areas which have become an important part of my life. I love to garden with local natives in my urban-sized block at Castaways Beach where I live with my husband Paul. I also love exploring our natural areas, particularly the beautiful and complex coastal heathlands (my favourite)! I have a scientific background and have worked in environmental research, horticulture and environmental project management both in Melbourne and in the Noosa Shire.

I look forward to formally being part of the fantastic team at Urban Wildlife Gardens and contributing to the great work that they do!’

Sarah’s environmental knowledge, experience and enthusiasm will be a valuable and welcome addition to the UWG subcommittee and program.
