Sunday 30th August saw 14 ladies join Shaun Walsh for the Marcus Beach high dunes walk. The start of the day was very wet day and the weather only improved slightly towards the end.
But that didn’t kerb the enthusiasm of the group and we set off keen to hear about the history of the site and enjoy the wildflowers.
At the start of the walk, Shaun delivered the first of his three talks. The information was interesting and informative, and it was hard to believe the beautiful area we walked through could have all been a housing development.
The plants were stunning and there were lots out in full flower. Without an assigned Botanist, the group worked together to identify a variety of species.
This walk had three components – walking with friends, plant identification and learning about the history of the area. One of these parts would have been a nice few hours, but to contain all three made it a lovely morning.
Thank you Shaun for leading the walk.
