What are Noosa’s native plants?

Noosa’s native plants are species that have evolved in different vegetation communities of Noosa shire with no human interference over thousands of years.  Some are also found in other places, but some are endemic to this area like Noosa’s floral emblem, Boronia keysii, which only occurs in restricted sandy paperbark woodlands on the banks of the upper Noosa River.

Noosa shire has a range of vegetation communities including seacoast and mangroves, wallum heath, paperbark woodlands, eucalypt hillsides and rainforest gullies, mountain tops and freshwater communities.

Each has evolved into a finely balanced ecosystem in harmony with the underlying rocks and soils. The wildlife that find congenial conditions for food and habitat there are also an important part of these ecosystems.
