Love wildflowers? The wildflower season is nearly here and bookings for the Sunshine Coast Wildflower Festival open on July 1st!
The Wildflower Festival was born in 1967, established by Kathleen McArthur, an artist, author, environmentalist and founding member of the Wildlife Preservation Society of Queensland.
This year’s program offers a diverse mix of wildflower and botany walks, botanical art and nature journaling, a threatened species plant survey, night-time fauna spotting, native plant propagation and historical and public talks. The festival will run from August 16 to 31, 2025.
Urban Wildlife Gardens and NICA will be hosting three free events as part of the 2025 festival:
- Tuesday August 19, 9am – 12pm –Wildflower Walk – Noosa North Shore, Arthur Harrold Nature Refuge.
- Tuesday August 26, 8 – 11 am – The Battle to Save the Coastal Heathlands of the Marcus High Dunes – Noosa National Park, Marcus Beach.
- Sunday August 31, 9 – 11am – Wildflower Walk – Noosa National Park Headland section.
