Workshop presenter, Joan Heavey has always had an interest in native flora and fauna and is passionate about preserving and protecting Noosa’s natural environment. Since retiring she has spent much of her time discovering the natural wonders of the Noosa Shire, in particular our local native orchids.

Our first Community Workshop was held at the Peregian Community House this month. It was a free Urban Wildlife Garden Workshop for Noosa’s coastal foreshore neighbourhoods, organised in partnership with Noosa Council.

UWG are planning the installation of our second verge demonstration garden funded by Noosa Council, this time at Peregian Beach. Our committee member Sarah was responsible for the funding submission and is the Project Manager.

Approximately 20 UWG members and interested residents met at Rainbow Park, Sunrise Beach for a walk along Burgess Creek.
