UWG is hoping to schedule a follow up to our February workshop, ‘Creating Ponds for Frog Habitat’, with a practical demonstration by Sean Morrow of building a frog habitat. We are looking for a member who, perhaps already has plans to install a small pond in their urban wildlife garden and, would like some free expert advice from Sean plus willing helpers to construct the pond at the workshop.

In a joint approach with 2 landholders, UWG have received Council funding for the installation of two verge gardens in the Noosa Shire. We are after 4 volunteer members to assist with site preparation and planting in the coming months.

Despite the inclement weather, we had a good turnout for this month’s workshop with Robert Price. Robert defined cultivation as the act of trying to develop or improve something. He suggested that in our urban gardens we need to find a balance between having a garden that is aesthetically pleasing, incorporates utility areas and also provides habitat for our local wildlife.

Noosa Council, in partnership with Urban Wildlife Gardens, is holding an Urban Wildlife Workshop at Peregian Beach. The event is at 10am on Saturday May 17 at Victory Park, Lorikeet Drive, Peregian Beach.
